STEVE

Steve was first inspired to take up the guitar by the original glam rock bands of the seventies. He is not as tall as he was in those days due to the current lack of availability of platform shoes. In the early eighties he shot to fame (in the Ashford area) as the lead guitarist and co-songwriter in Bollweevil, the band who released the legendary NWOBHM single Rock Solid (never 'eard of it mate). Unfortunately along with the limited fame came a non-existent fortune so is still waiting for the big house, flash car, recording studio etc.

His on stage skills have included stamping out smouldering curtains, ignited by a whole gig's worth of flashpots going off at the beginning of the set, while still holding down a tight guitar intro.

CAROLYN

Carolyn sings backing vocals, lead vocals, and shakes a mean tambourine.

Carolyn has been a muzo ever since her (very) early childhood memories of hearing her Glamrock heros on the radio, being T Rex, Wizzard and Slade. She has sung with various bands round Surrey and Hampshire, performing at events ranging from 'posh frock' functions to the local jam night at the pub. While doing this Carolyn has become very interested in people watching, and is now a great expert on 'human behaviour on the dance floor!!!'

PHIL

Phil has been playing guitar for a long time. He has played alongside some of the great names in pop music, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan to name but a few in his record collection..

However, it was when he heard Eric Clapton for the first time that his ears were truly opened to the real joy of the electric guitar. So inspired in fact that he took up bass guitar to play in a local blues band.

In the end the limits of his range of walking bass lines made him return to the 6 string guitar. Realising that he would never play like John McLaughlin or be very popular even if he managed it, Phil returned to playing the great party music that Strata are famous for..

Phil now shares the responsibilty of playing lines, solos and fills with Steve, complementing the excellent rhythm and vocal sections of the band.

JOHN

John sings lead vocals. He has always had an interest in singing (even if no-one is listening!) and was often encouraged to sing in front of large audiences as a young child. However, adolescent distractions led him into far more evil pastimes and singing renditions became restricted to the shower and the car (obviously with much smaller audiences)!

But his interest in music never wained and twenty years later, following his 8,756th private rendition of "I Want to Break Free", he decided to unleash himself on the public once more when he joined a band called "Mystery Virus". He went on to join "Strata" in 2004 and once more can be heard bashing out those Justin Hawkins territory notes that he reached so much more easily as a youth before his voice broke!

DAVE

Dave has been playing bass guitar throughout the 21st century. He spent his early years experimenting with a range of mood altering foods in an attempt to find the perfect pizza topping. The knowledge gained proved to be perfect preparation for a career as a bass playing roadie. He is one of the few privileged people to have played with the great Guzman Studthruster during the Indigo years at the famous Factory in Ashford. Although he no longer walks among the living we often feel Guzman's influence guiding our lead breaks.

Dave is particularly interested in the history of Anglo‑Siamese relations during the years before the Bangkok Treaty of 1909, and maintains his fitness by moving bass amps.

CHRIS EIO

Chris plays drums and sings backing vocals in the band. He is of Danish origin and is probably the only person in the UK to be named after a London postcode. He was brought up on the Isle of Man where he started to play the drums at the age of 11 after several failed attempts to win the TT Races. He is described as the 'Animal' of the band (but with much less hair).

A cunning linguist, Chris speaks four languages which he hopes will come in useful during the band's forthcoming 2037 World Tour. His hobbies include holding down a full time job, being a heavy metal groupie and extreme coin collecting.

Chris has been crowned world Uncle Fester lookalike champion five times, a feat not even achieved by Uncle Fester himself!
